About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

Reporting to the Coordinator Woman and Children's Program you will be responsible for providing quality nursing
care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of an
interdisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the
Philosophy and Values of Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre and the policies of the Hospital.

As a member of the Women & Children's Resource Team, you will be part of a dynamic team of highly skilled and
knowledgeable Nurses who provide specialty care to patients within our program. The Women & Children's Resource
Team is an opportunity for Registered Practical Nurses to acquire and maintain competencies in the Women &
Children's Program which includes Paediatrics and Maternal Newborn. Women & Children'sResource Team Nurses
are scheduled in accordance with the SEIU collective agreement.

Applicants must have the following qualification:
* Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Current certification in BCLS
* Recent experience in Maternity, Perinatal, Neonatal or Paediatric nursing with experience in breastfeeding support
and the care of complex patient populations, including postoperative surgical patients
* Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his
basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
* Collaborates with Registered Nurse's (RN) when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes
that are not as expected.
* Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
* Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
* Strong interprofessional and communication skills
* Central Venous Line Management

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:
* Have a certification or recent continuing education in perinatal, neonatal or paediatric nursing, Paediatric Advanced
Life Support (PALS), lactation support, Emergency Nurses Paediatric Course (ENPC)
* Certification from a formal Perioperative Nursing Course or demonstrated continuing education in Perioperative
Nursing
* Recent experience working with cardio‑respiratory monitoring

Salary Range: $37.175 to 38.160
