Required Skills/Abilities
- OSHA, MSHA, and Safe Land Certification is required
- Instructor Certifications and Evaluator Certifications are preferred
- Must be extremely detail oriented with proven strong time-management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Bilingual Prefered
Role
This position will support and work closely with operational staff to align employees with a strong safety culture. The position will partner with other field safety personnel to deliver and achieve the Company’s ZERO incidents goal.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily site safety audits, collaborate with employees and supervision, and monitor site activities to ensure the safety of all personnel working onsite
- Provide field support for various HSE related initiatives geared toward compliance
- Assure required inspections are being performed and that all required reports and/or documentation are being properly submitted to the correct reporting/regulatory agency(ies) and are being filed at the Company facility for future review within 1 week of receipt.
- Continually evaluate HSE programs and procedures for effective implementation based on field employees and sub-contractor compliance
- Participate in State and Federal Regulatory inspections and/or audits
- Participate in development and training of MSHA, OSHA, and site-specific classes for our employees as well as turn in all paperwork to main company office for record keeping
- Actively develop and implement programs as needed based on reliable research and health data from noise surveys, chest x-rays, atmospheric monitoring, etc.
- Develop and review Emergency Response Plans for all projects
- Perform New Employee Orientation, Fleet Assessments, Drug and Alcohol Screening
- Perform and teach basic 1st Aid, CPR, and AED
- Conduct site toolbox talks, Stop Work Authority reviews, and job-site visits/audits
- Actively participate with customer company’s safety staff to implement local policies and procedures
- Perform Inspections of equipment, vehicles, and facilities on each jobsite
- Notify supervisor and address potential safety hazards in a timely fashion
- Be professional and courteous in dealings with customers and/or vendors
- Follow all Company policies and procedures and obtain certifications at Company/Client request, including but not limited to, BBP, Onsite Orientations, First Aid, AED, Annual OSHA Training, PEC, H2S, Reasonable Suspicion, Excavation Competent Person, Fire Watch Trainer, Incident Investigation, CPR, Operator Evaluation and/or Operator Qualification, HAZCOM, LO/TO, JSA Coaching, all facets of confined space, respirator protection
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position and the environmental conditions likely encountered during performance. The employee will be regularly required to communicate and effectively exchange information with other employees. The employee will be required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and move about in a construction environment, including being able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision acuity, depth perception, and distance vision. The employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts, equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, some occasional high noise levels may be expected.
Position Type, Travel and Work Schedule
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are mostly Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, weekend work and working longer hours will be required when necessary. This position does require travel, including overnight stays.
