About the role
We are seeking applications for a Sample Receipt Officer to join our modern, NATA-accredited laboratory. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming samples, ensuring they are logged, processed, and managed efficiently. You will play a vital role in sample integrity and customer service while collaborating with both clients and laboratory staff.
Responsibilities
Sample Management: Unpack, check, and accurately log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring all information is recorded correctly.
Customer Service: Respond to general customer enquiries via phone and email, including booking couriers, organising bottle orders, and providing advice on sample containers and preservatives.
Logistics & Supply Management: Prepare and manage sample containers and project supply orders to ensure laboratory efficiency.
Lab Coordination: Work closely with laboratory staff to prioritise and promptly pass on urgent samples.
Quality & Compliance: Complete all Quality Control records in accordance with the Quality System.
Workplace Safety & Waste Disposal: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of sample waste (e.g., soil jars, water bottles, metals waste, solvent waste).
Skills and Experiences:
About you
The ideal candidate will possess:
Exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A proactive, 'can-do' attitude
Strong teamwork skills
A degree in Science with a Chemistry major is preferred
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
Must be available to work the 11-7pm shift
