PAINT TECHNICIAN

The position of Sandblaster includes, but is not limited to, operating sandblast equipment within an unheated blast booth. Primary responsibilities will include preparing and blasting various metal/steel pieces for painting.

The Sandblaster is expected to adhere to Norstar safety procedures that apply to proper ventilation and protective clothing while doing so (including respirators). The Sandblaster may also be required to read and understand various production drawings, work orders and other written instructions.

Requirements

  • Experience as a sandblaster in a commercial or manufacturing environment is an asset.

Job Duties

  • Safely operate sandblast equipment within a blast booth
  • Sandblast metal/steel components year-round, including work performed in an unheated blast booth
  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting, including cleaning, masking and surface preparation
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times including wearing of all required PPE, ie: facial air supplied respirator
  • Conduct Quality Inspections of their work.
  • Must follow production drawings and instructions, written and verbal
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report maintenance and safety concerns
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits.
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project status.
  • Assist in training of junior employees,
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Sign off on completed work orders and quality of work.

This position is on site daily at the Norstar Trailer Shop. 40 hours per week, full-time permanent.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour

  • Norstar is located just outside of the town of Rosenort, MB which is about a 40 minutes drive south of Winnipeg. A successful candidate will be able and willing to make this commute.
