West Deanery Unified Catholic Schools (WDUCS), in partnership with Nurses Direct Connect, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven School-Based Nurse Practitioner to serve students and families across WDUCS Catholic school campuses. This is a dual-role position that blends traditional school nursing responsibilities with the delivery of school-based health clinic services, providing accessible, high-quality care to the WDUCS community.

The ideal candidate is an experienced pediatric-focused provider who thrives in an autonomous environment, values evidence-based practice, and is passionate about serving children and families in a faith-centered educational setting.

This position is dually employed by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and Nurses Direct Connect, with compensation structured through a combination of hourly pay and RVU-based productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Care & School-Based Health Services

  • Provide comprehensive primary and acute care services to enrolled students and facility, including illness and injury assessment, management of chronic conditions, and preventive care
  • Operate a school-based health clinic model that supports continuity of care for WDUCS families
  • Follow and strongly advocate for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended immunization schedule
  • Deliver age-appropriate health education to students and families
  • Collaborate with families, community providers, and school personnel to support student health outcomes

School Nursing & Campus Support

  • Serve as the on-site healthcare provider supporting day-to-day student health needs for both Cardinal Ritter High School and St. Michael - St. Gabriel the Archangel Elementary School (located on the same campus)
  • Manage medication administration, health plans, and emergency response protocols
  • Support compliance with state immunization and health requirements
  • Participate in health screenings, vaccine clinics, and school-based wellness initiatives
  • Provide guidance and consultation to school staff regarding student health concerns

Collaboration & Program Development

  • Work collaboratively with Nurses Direct Connect clinical leadership and Archdiocese stakeholders
  • Support the growth and sustainability of school-based health services across WDUCS
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet all regulatory, billing, and compliance standards

Qualifications Required

  • Current, unrestricted Indiana Nurse Practitioner license
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
  • Experience in pediatrics or school-based health.
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and science-driven care
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high level of clinical autonomy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education

Preferred

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification
  • Spanish-speaking proficiency (strongly preferred)
  • Prior experience in school-based or community health settings

Employment & Compensation

  • Dual employment with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and Nurses Direct Connect
  • Compensation based on a combination of hourly pay and RVUs completed
  • Benefits package provided in alignment with employing organizations
  • Planned start date July/August 2026

Schedule & Work Environment

  • School-based schedule aligned with the academic calendar
  • Off summers, Christmas break, fall break, and spring break
  • Daytime hours in a collaborative, community-focused school environment
