St. Joseph’s school is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Bus Escort.

The Role:

• Escorts accompany pupils on taxi/bus transport from their home to and from school.
• The escort is responsible for the safety of the child on board the bus/taxi and will be required to provide pupil care needs including but not limited to assisting the child getting on and off the bus, securing appropriate seat belts etc
• Availability in mornings for school start and in end times is essential for all school days
• Available during school calendar December 2025 – Weds 24th June 2026

Duties & responsibilities:

• Supervision and safety of students travelling on the bus
• Maintain a good working relationship with the driver of the bus
• Act as a liaison between Principal and/or Class Teacher and parents when required
• Observe confidentiality in all aspects of work
• Be aware of particular disabilities of students on the bus and be briefed by the Trainer on how to deal with it i.e. epilepsy etc.

Requirements:

• Availability around school start and end times is essential from 29th August 2025 to 24th June 2026 except for school holidays
• Ability to meet the bus at designated location
• Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships
• Enjoy working on your own with people with an intellectual disability
• Some flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time to facilitate the needs of the service users
