Sd-25038 Postdoc-Ink Formulation And Inkjet Printing Of Metal Oxide Nanostructures For Gas Sensors
Description

24 months contract | Belvaux-Luxembourg

Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

How will you contribute?

Gas sensors are finding more and more applications in monitoring our environment, as part of personalized medicine through breath analysis and in industry as safety measure (leak detection) or for monitoring industrial processes. In these applications, a key element is to propose low-cost and reliable sensors that can easily adapt to the targeted application, either through programming or through more flexible fabrication methods.

LIST is coordinating the project AMUSENS (https://amusens.eu), involving 10 partners through Europe, with the objective to develop an adaptable multi-pixel gas sensor platform for the selective sensing of various gases and targeting applications in environmental monitoring and breath analysis. The fabrication of the multi-pixel sensor relies on tow original local depositions techniques, (1) inkjet printing, for which LIST is more specifically responsible of, and (2) local atomic layer deposition from one partner of the project.

As part of the LIST team, you will more specifically be responsible of the development of inks and inkjet printing of original metal oxide materials used as sensing elements onto the multi-pixel micro-hotplate platform developed by one of partner. You will moreover be a strong actor of the project and interact with all 10 partners of the project through regular meetings.

You will be mainly in charge of:

  • Formulation of inks based on metal oxide nanoparticles developed in LIST and by one partner and tackle the challenge of particles with large aspect ratio (rods or plates particles).
  • Development and optimization of inkjet printing of the inks onto multi-pixel micro-hotplate platform, with the aim to demonstrate a first step to up-scaling (full wafer scale).
  • Post-processing and characterization of the deposited material for functional device preparation.
  • On a larger extend, supervise the global multi-pixel gas sensor fabrication involving inkjet printing and local atomic layer deposition.
  • Participate to project meetings and to the preparation of project deliverables.
  • Advertise the project results through publications and participation to international conferences.
