SDU RIO is looking for 1-2 student assistants with skills in organization, communication and data analysis

SDU’s Research and Innovation Organisation (SDU RIO) is part of SDU's central administration and tasked with providing support for the faculties when they interact with partners outside the university. The Research Support team in SDU RIO is looking for 1-2 student assistants who are collaborative and sharp.

The Research Support team offers applicants a range of diverse tasks, depending on the applicants' profiles and competencies. No matter which tasks suit your profile best, as a student assistant working with us, you will be given interesting and competence-building tasks. You will also be able to influence how the tasks are planned and solved, and to fit the work optimally into your study program.

The Research Support team supports SDU's researchers when they plan and prepare large consortium applications for research funding and implement projects. The team also supports SDU's research leaders in relation to strategy development and analysis within relevant research domains.

The offered positions therefore cover two main areas :

  • supporting the preparation of applications in English, where many international partners and information must be managed and collated due diligently. These tasks require particularly good English and organizational skills
  • data collection and analysis tasks. These tasks require competencies in mathematics, data analysis and basic IT.

Tasks will include :

  • performing ad hoc administrative and practical tasks, especially in relation to application writing and fundraising processes
  • interacting with external partners regarding collection of information for applications and potentially when conducting consortium meetings
  • entering data into electronic application systems and organizing team archives, across multiple applications
  • helping with setting up SharePoint pages, Teams sites and editing websites
  • assembling and formatting major (primarily) English applications for research funding
  • helping with proofreading and production of graphics
  • collecting information and data relevant to research and fundraising
  • analyzing funding and research-relevant information using Excel
  • potentially performing analyses with more advanced data tools than Excel
  • potentially developing dynamic dashboard solutions (e.g. using PowerBI)
  • potentially performing defined programming tasks.

We expect you to:

  • be positive and open by nature
  • engage constructively with the team
  • be independent and a fast learner
  • be systematic and analytic in your task solving approaches
  • speak English (Danish is not a requirement).

The workplace will be in Videnbyen (Odense Campus) and student assistants will be joining a team of approx. 20 colleagues incl. 10 different nationalities, where the working language is often English. The working environment is good, welcoming, and dynamic.

The position will be up to 14 hours per week, and we are flexible in terms of organizing working hours, so they fit your study plans. Students who can work with us for a year or more will be preferred.

About SDU RIO

SDU RIO (SDU’s Research & Innovation Organisation) is a large unit in the central administration that supports the interaction between research, education, business, and the public sector.

We have five domain-specific teams, including the Research Support team.

The unit works with several of SDU's strategic focus areas incl. international research collaboration.

Interviews are tentatively planned between 20/5 and 29/5 and will be agreed with the individual candidate. The start time of the job is also agreed individually. Optimally, onboarding may start already in June, but otherwise start-up is expected from August.

The place of work is Odense, primarily Videnbyen, Cortex Park 26, 5230 Odense M.

Please note, the selected candidate as Student Assistant or Academic Supervisor must be enrolled as student at SDU.
Employment shall take place in accordance with the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and PROSA.
In case you have not yet had an examination at SDU, the enrollment confirmation instead of the exam transcript must be annexed your application.
