Duties in this position include but are not limited to: being aware of and having knowledge of the Director’s viewpoint in relation to sensitive and difficult situations and issues. Preparing and editing routine correspondence and reports; and taking meeting minutes. Assembles information from files, documents, newspapers, and other available resources for use by the Director, office staff, and others.

Assist the County Director in the management of day-to-day activities. This involves coordinating county assignments and compiling information for response when meeting specific department deadlines. The person who holds this position must be aware and have knowledge of the Director’s viewpoint in relation to sensitive and difficult situations and issues. Required Education and Experience
Secretary 7-9:
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Secretary 7
Two years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to 6-level administrative support experience.
Secretary E8
Three years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to experienced-level administrative support work or equivalent to a Secretary 7 or Legal Secretary 7.
Secretary 9
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
OR
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.
Executive Secretary E10:
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Five years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to advanced (8) level administrative support work, Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8; or, one year equivalent to a Secretary 9, Legal Secretary 9, or Senior Executive Management Assistant 9.
Additional Requirements and Information
The physical location of this position is Muskegon County DHHS, 2700 Baker Street, Muskegon, MI 49442. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
- A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
- A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
- Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
