Are you looking for an internship in the field of Information Security Awareness and Training. Canon EMEA is looking for enthusiastic interns to join our CENV Intern Program! This program will be a great learning experience to further your skills, build connections, and gain opportunities within the field that interests you the most. For the next six months you will focus on your personal and professional growth as well as be part of an intern community and build your Canon story together!

We are looking for a Security Awareness and Training intern to join our Information Security department starting on the 1st of February 2024 for a period of 6 months.

The Security Awareness and Training Intern is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive security awareness program at Canon EMEA. This role focuses on educating employees about cybersecurity risks, best practices, and how to safeguard the company’s digital assets. The goal is to foster a security-conscious culture and reduce security risks associated with human error.

During your internship, you will learn how to:

  • Support the development and Implementation of a Security Awareness Program: Support the Information Security Awareness Lead to create and manage a security awareness program tailored to the Canon EMEA’s needs. This includes producing content on current cyber threats, social engineering, phishing attacks, password security, and data protection.
  • Training Development: Support the development and delivery of training sessions (in-person and virtual) and workshops across business departments, as required. Utilize various methods, including webinars, e-learning modules, and interactive presentations, to ensure high engagement.
  • Content Creation: Support the development of engaging educational materials such as videos, newsletters, articles, infographics, and posters to reinforce key security practices.
  • Assess and Improve Security Awareness: Use security monitoring data, phishing simulations, and testing tools to support the assessment of employees' understanding of security topics. Identify areas for improvement and adapt training accordingly.
  • Collaboration with IT and Security Teams: Support the Information Security Awareness Lead in working closely with IT and Security teams to align the awareness program with the organization’s security policies, incident responses, and compliance requirements.
  • Tracking and Reporting: Track progress towards security culture objectives.
  • Create reports that highlight key metrics and the overall effectiveness of the security awareness program.
  • Incident Response Support: Assist in delivering response procedures for security incidents and ensure employees are aware of their roles during such incidents.

What we ask

We are looking for someone who is/has:

  • A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, risks, and best practices;
  • Familiarity with common cyber threats such as phishing, ransomware, and social engineering;
  • Knowledge of industry best practices concerning an organisation’s security awareness and training program;
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel required).
  • We prefer that the intern is enrolled at a Dutch university or college for the entire duration of the internship and must provide us with an internship agreement.I
  • n case of non-EU nationality the student must have a legitimate work permit with student status, which will not expire during the duration of the internship. Students from outside the EU need to fill in a NUFFIC agreement, which needs to be signed by the student and the university.

You will need

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams. Proactive mindset with a strong focus on mitigating risks.Continuous learning approach to stay updated with the latest security trends and technologies.Ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, from non-technical staff to technical experts.
