Overview
To provide security and safety services for all First Baptist Church campus locations through traditional patrol and electronic surveillance to prevent unauthorized access, to protect properties, to respond to incidents and calls for assistance, and provide documentation as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Provide security operations through traditional patrol and electronic surveillance of buildings, building perimeters, and parking garages, to prevent unauthorized visitors or property damage, to provide for general building security, and document all activities as assigned.
  • Provide security and safety response to high-risk and emergency incidents (e.g., hurricane, fire, active shooter, kidnapping, etc.) according to established policies and protocols, and document all activities.
  • Monitor all electronic security measures, including camera systems, access control, and other technical investigative equipment as assigned.
  • Act in coordination with local law enforcement, firefighting, and EMS providers during incident response according to established policies and protocols, and document all activities and communications with these entities. Support the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to ensure appropriate traffic control on city streets and assist in facilitating traffic flow for ingress and egress from FBC properties as assigned or requested.
  • Conduct safe and secure transportation of all bank deposits as assigned.
  • Monitor for issues of safety to FBC staff and guests, report problems as appropriate, and assist maintenance, housekeeping, and other departments as necessary to alleviate those issues.
  • Monitor for subjects of Trespass Notices and other unauthorized persons and address as appropriate, respond to unruly individuals, and assist guests in navigating FBC properties to maintain secure environments.
  • Respond to all calls for assistance, investigate accidents (vehicular, pedestrian, and work-related), respond to incidents, and provide documentation as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times with sensitive data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or church leadership.

Qualifications

  • Currently possess a valid, Class “D” Security Officer License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture.
  • Currently possess a valid, Class “G” Statewide Firearm License issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture.
  • Experience in law enforcement, military police, or private security operations with a working knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques employed in establishing and maintaining secure facilities.
  • A working knowledge of current criminal and civil law as it affects security in a corporate/church environment.
  • The ability to recognize and proactively react to hostile/hazardous persons and events.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a wide range of professional and social backgrounds.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise reports and other appropriate documentation, and the ability to describe, explain, and discuss complex security matters and situations in a clear, concise, and readily understood manner.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and within a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions and an ever-changing threat level.
  • Flexibility with work scheduling, understanding the need to work outside standard business hours, during weekends and holidays, or otherwise as operations require.
  • Proficiency with general office PC applications (e.g. email, word processing, spreadsheets).
  • Be able to unreservedly affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
  • Be eager to develop and maintain good Christian camaraderie with the other members of the staff.
  • Be willing to wholeheartedly follow the vision of ministry set forth by church leadership.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing for an assigned post, walking patrol routes, or driving church-owned vehicles and/or golf carts.
  • Ability to be outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions and all seasons.
  • Frequent use of stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must correctly wear all required safety equipment and personal protective equipment while performing assigned duties.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
