The SEL Facilitator/ Behavior Specialist
This multifaceted position combines the responsibilities of a SEL/behavior interventionist, behavior management mentor/coach, and a classroom SEL group presenter/discussion facilitator. This position requires a strong background in constructivist child behavior intervention strategies/interventions, adult mentoring/coaching, and experience in delivering engaging age-appropriate social-emotional learning lessons to large groups of students, as well as facilitating discussions/follow-up with students.

Behavior Interventionist- Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution techniques.
- Manage a caseload of children with behavior success plans
- Document student behaviors in school platforms (Panorama/Infinite Campus) and communicate with parents and staff when needed.
- Access Panorama Teacher Toolkit to guide SEL Lessons for classroom communities based on identified needs
- Present/Facilitate 45 minute to 1 hour SEL Learning Sessions in classroom communities on a monthly basis following a schedule. (2 classrooms / week plus planning time for lessons)
- Evaluate the effectiveness of SEL lessons and make adjustments based on educator and student feedback/ outcomes.
- Provide ongoing training and support to teachers and staff on effective behavior management techniques.

Provide parents and guardians with education on the following
- The Nautilus Approach to behavior management
- Social Emotional Learning
- Coordinate Parent Education Night(s)

Foster positive relationships with Assistant Guides and their students, serving as role model and mentor.
- Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
- Model positive behavior management strategies
- Model implementing effective behavior interventions to support students with identified challenges
- Model pro-active adult-child relationship centered behaviors that either mitigate behaviors before they begin or de-escalate behaviors once starter
- Check-in with Assistant Guides on a rotating schedule, providing two 30-minute check-ins per month with each Assistant Guide
- Collaborate with Lead and Assistant Guides to identify students who may benefit from regular coaching and check-ins promoting positive interventions/strategies; work with the SST to develop appropriate behavior support plans.
- Participate as a member of the Student Support Team (SST)
- Additional record keeping, communications with parents, trainings related to role, gathering of resources to support educators, assistants, and/or children
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Counseling, or related field.
- Experience working with K-8 students in an educational setting.
- Experience coaching/mentoring educators.
- Strong understanding of constructivist behavior intervention approaches, trauma informed behavior support, and social-emotional learning frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to implement restorative practices with older children as a response to behavior and in support of Social-Emotional learning is a plus.

Preferred/Additional Skills
Training in systemic racism, dismantling racism and addressing privilege (must have a firm grasp of anti-bias/anti-racism language and framework)
Schedule
School hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through FridayLength of Work Year: From date of hire for the 2024-25 school year to the end of Summer School on July 3, 2025, including but not limited to professional development, parent/teacher conferences, and preparatory work
Compensation
This position offers a salary ranging from $41,000.00 to $45,000.00 based on level of education, certifications, and years of teaching experience.Benefits
