About the role - Korero mo te turanga

This is a specialist planning and performance role focused on coordinating and leading the delivery of MFAT's enterprise planning system to enable the Ministry to prioritise and deliver great outcomes for New Zealand.

Our Strategy and Performance Division (SAPD) links strategy, planning, resourcing, and performance to help the Ministry maximise its collective impact. As Senior Adviser - Enterprise Planning, you will be one of three key people within SAPD's Enterprise Planning and Performance team that is responsible for enterprise planning; monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on performance; and linking resourcing to strategic intent.

You will collaborate and coordinate with the Lead Adviser Enterprise Planning and Performance and the Senior Adviser Enterprise Performance.

The role requires extensive engagement across the Ministry, and requires well-rounded relationship, advisory and influencing skills, as well as excellent technical skills in enterprise planning systems.

Your key responsibilities in this varied role will be to:

  • Contribute to the design and lead delivery and maintenance of a fit for purpose planning system to enable the Ministry to prioritise, plan and resource delivery of its responsibilities.
  • Engage actively with the organisation and policy leads to support strong understanding and implementation of that system.
  • Manage and coordinate delivery of the annual strategic and business planning cycle.
  • Manage production of the Ministry's Strategic Intentions document.

The full salary range for this role is $104,670 and $141,612 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution.

In addition, we would like to hear about your skills and experience that includes your:

  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise planning systems, preferable in the public sector.
  • Experience in strategic and business planning.
  • Knowledge of central agencies' planning, review, and benchmarking approaches.
  • Experience in producing planning and accountability documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including design capability in Word.
  • Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Maori and Maori customs and protocols would be beneficial.

Also desirable is Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) experience, which is an increasing focus of the team.
