About the role
In this role, the Senior Analyst, Transaction Monitoring will be responsible for the investigation of complex and/or high risk transaction monitoring alerts.
The role will be focused on the assessment of potentially suspicious activity of clients for the purposes of Suspicious Activity Report submissions to FIU, while maintaining adherence to the internal standard operating procedure and external regulatory obligations. As a senior member of the team, there will also be a requirement to work on ad hoc projects and assist the junior staff with investigations.
The aim of the Transaction Monitoring (TM) Team is to provide a proactive, effective and holistic financial and economic crime intelligence capability; to source, identify, develop, evaluate and disseminate intelligence (internal and external), both tactically and strategically.
The Senior Analyst, Transaction Monitoring is a critical role required to support the TM Team to meet its objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Triage and assess Transaction Monitoring alerts for any potential red flags or unusual behaviour.
- Conduct complex and/or high risk customer transaction monitoring investigations for Rabobank Online Savings and Country Banking business lines within Rabobank New Zealand.
- Review and escalate any potentially suspicious activity to the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) for determination of suspicion or not.
- If grounds for suspicions confirmed by FCC submit a Suspicious Activity Report/Suspicious Transaction Report to the Financial Intelligence Unit.
- Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for alert handling and investigations, and alert narrative quality requirements.
- Take any corrective actions determined by Quality Assurance and First Line Monitoring.
- Be involved in testing requirements for new transaction monitoring rules and changes to existing rules.
- Assist other Analysts within the team with investigations and act as an SME for more complex matters
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Minimum 3-5 years of financial crime experience gained within the Banking/Financial Services Industry.
- Minimum 3 years of transaction monitoring investigations experienced gained within the Banking/Financial Services
- ACAMS preferable
- Bachelor of Commerce/Economics/Business/ Laws or relevant industry qualification, or proven solid banking and finance expertise.
- Knowledge of transaction monitoring investigation requirements across the industry.
- Understanding of AML/CTF obligations.
- Understanding of Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements
- Proficient expertise in transaction monitoring investigations.
- Ability to identify red flags from known typologies.
- Ability to document investigations with consideration to regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to provide ‘on the job’ coaching and to colleagues as part of development planning and continuous improvements initiatives.
