About the role
The Senior Civil & Structural Technician will provide advanced technical and production support to the Civil & Structural Engineering team, delivering high‑quality drawings, models, and technical outputs across a wide range of building and infrastructure projects.
The role requires strong technical competence, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience coordinating with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders within an Irish consultancy environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the reliable production of technically accurate drawings requiring minimal rework.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Delivery Prepare detailed civil and structural engineering drawings across all project stages (concept, planning, tender, construction).
- Produce GA drawings, details, schedules, and reinforcement layouts in accordance with engineer’s design intent.
- Assist in the preparation of site layouts, drainage layouts, roadworks, levels, sections, and details. Develop and maintain BIM / CAD models in accordance with project and company standards.
- Ensure drawings comply with Irish standards, Building Regulations, Eurocodes, TII standards, and client specifications.
- Coordination & Support Work closely with Engineers to interpret design calculations and translate them into coordinated construction drawings.
- Coordinate drawing outputs with Architects, M&E consultants, QSs, contractors, and local authorities.
- Respond to RFIs, drawing queries, and technical clarifications during construction stages.
- Assist with as‑built drawings, record drawings, and handover documentation.
- Quality & Compliance Ensure all outputs comply with company QA/QC procedures and ISO requirements.
- Undertake self‑checking and peer reviews of drawings prior to issue.
- Maintain organised project files in accordance with document control procedures.
- Mentoring & Team Contribution
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to junior technicians.
- Support Engineers in the development of efficient drawing standards, libraries, and workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD/BIM processes within the team
- Support the Structural Engineers in scheme layouts, structural sections, preparation of detailed design, tender information and detailing.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in a Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy.
- Relevant Level 6/7/8 qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Strong experience delivering projects in Ireland, particularly: Residential developments Commercial / mixed‑use buildings Healthcare, education, or industrial projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM experience strongly preferred).
- Good working knowledge of: Drainage design layouts (foul & surface water) Site development works Structural detailing (RC, steel, masonry, timber)
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM Level 2 workflows and common data environments.
- Exposure to Assigned Certifier / BCAR documentation support.
- Experience supporting Road Safety Audits or infrastructure schemes (where relevant).
