About the Role

The Cardio Respiratory Integrated Specialist Services team is a dynamic, innovative and supportive team, ready to welcome a Senior Clinical Psychologist.


The role will include providing psychological support to people receiving care from Respiratory Services and to contribute and help improve our excellent delivery of care. The role will play a crucial part in the consultation, education and support to other Respiratory Services staff.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist role is based in our Cardio Respiratory Integrated Specialist Services (CRISS) team while having professional links to the Psychology Clinical Lead for the Christchurch Campus.

About You

In this role you will be well-ground and a self-reflective psychologist and can demonstrate a strong understanding of your own beliefs and biases. You will be client focussed and prioritise the needs and well-being of your clients and have effective communication and interpersonal skills. If you meet the below skills and qualifications we want to hear from you:

  • Registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board – with current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Member of a professional psychological organisation (NZCCP or NZPsS)
  • Excellent time management, documentation and clinical assessment skills
  • Expertise in assessment and intervention within mental health with individuals
  • Excellent ability to work in a team and in a professional manner
  • Experience providing psychological assessment and formulation-driven interventions for a broad range of psychological presentations
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience working in complex systems
  • Good understanding of psychological health in the context of chronic health conditions
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
  • Experience in providing psychological services within a multi-professional team
