What you'll be doing
Joining the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) ACAS will mean you will be part of a dynamic team with various sites providing Aged Care Assessment to NSLHD. Excellent education and supervision is provided on an ongoing basis. The team will welcome applications from all those with strong interest and passion for working with older persons and who want to be part of an experienced friendly multidisciplinary team. Applicants need to have a strong commitment to working to a high standard and within very tight time frames.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Physiotherapy, or Occupational Therapy. For Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy, current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is required. For Social Work, qualifications must be recognised for eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. Allied Health Professionals will need minimum experience as a Level 2. For Nursing – Division 1 Registered Nurse with post registration qualification relevant to speciality and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of their post graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional development is essential.
  • Demonstrated high-level clinical experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and care planning for the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) target population. Proven knowledge of relevant legislation, elder abuse management, and NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal requirements. Ability to interpret and communicate these frameworks effectively to staff and stakeholders, with a clear understanding of how they influence intake processes.
  • Demonstrated excellence in negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy, with the ability to engage constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice that enhances service delivery and optimises intake processes. Proven capacity to guide and support colleagues in achieving service excellence, including the ability to deliver clinical supervision to other staff within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete, and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes. Proven capacity to lead ongoing quality improvement activities in collaboration with other staff, contributing to enhanced service delivery and organisational performance.
