- Help Transpower achieve its long-term objective of being a best practice utility business
- Utilise your deep analytical skills to ensure we continually lift the bar on compliance performance
- Deliver effective outcomes to our internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and regulatory requirements are met.
Transpower is the owner and operator of the National Grid. At the heart of the electricity sector, we transport high voltage electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution businesses that deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.
Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.
About the Team
Transpower, as Grid Owner, has duties, responsibilities, and obligations under the Electricity Industry Participation (EIPC) Code regarding the rating and capability of its assets. Learn more about the code by visiting: https://www.ea.govt.nz/code-and-compliance/the-code/
Transpower's largest division, Grid Delivery, ensures that our grid assets i.e. towers, lines, and substations continue to deliver a highly stable electricity supply to New Zealand, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Within Grid Delivery the Quality & Compliance team is responsible for ensuring Transpower maintains compliance with statutory obligations and regulatory requirements by establishing and implementing robust processes and procedures to exchange asset capability information internally and externally, whilst identifying compliance risks and facilitating process and system improvements to mitigate and prevent further risks and breaches of the Electricity Industry Participation Code.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that compliance with these statutory obligations and regulatory requirements are met. You'll do this by applying robust gatekeeper processes and procedures to exchange asset capability information with other grid divisions, System Operations, customers, and service providers.
Working alongside the Grid Compliance Manager, but with a certain amount of autonomy, you'll take ownership of our compliance systems, monitor project commissioning performance, identify risks, and facilitate process and system improvements to mitigate future breaches of the code.
Your Electrical Engineering background will help you to navigate the complexity of our business, and your deep analytical skills will ensure that our compliance performance is significantly improved, and deadlines are met.
With a high degree of relationship management required across the business and with a multitude of stakeholders, including the Electricity Authority, customers, generators, and distributors, you'll build important networks and enjoy the inherent challenges and robust conversations that take place to ensure we all achieve good outcomes for New Zealand.
What are we looking for?
We need an ambitious self-starter, with a good mix of technical and commercial skills, to take the reins and make this role their own.
If you're an Electrical Engineer who is looking to take your career in a different direction, yet still retain and utilise your considerable knowledge, this opportunity could be right for you.
With strong relationship management skills and sound practical technical experience to be considered, your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate:
- Relevant electricity distribution or transmission experience.
- Strong asset Management experience.
- Experience in contract negotiation and management.
- Demonstrable skills in building and maintaining good relationships.
- Sound practical technical experience.
- Proficient investigation and analytical skills.
