Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team. The work model for the role is: onsite #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to the Distribution Solutions business division, which is a global factory based in Henderson, Auckland with research and development responsibility for the ABB Safelink gas insulated Ringmain switchgear. You will be mainly accountable for: •All stages of projects from the initial brief, through to the design and development, to the testing of prototypes, including final manufacture, implementation and post-implementation support and product maintenance of switchgear products. •Project lead for the Engineering team for a variety of projects from researching, developing and introducing new products and processes to improving production processes. •Collaborating with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment, services or projects are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers. •Providing technical evaluation of supplier proposals and assisting with the assembly of prototypes, providing engineering support for pilot production. Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with system development and the electrical engineering market.
• You have minimum of 5 years experience in electrical engineering.
• Possess an enhanced knowledge of medium voltage switchgear, product design/product development and Solidworks CAD.
• You are competent with problem solving, and innovative with product development
• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering.
• You are at ease communicating in English and have strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
