Job Description

P Kiernan Groundworks Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer / Engineering Manager to join our expanding management team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, managing and supporting our site engineers across multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.

This is a senior position suited to an experienced engineer with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate engineering activities across several sites.

The role will involve working closely with our Operations Manager, Contracts Manager and site management teams to ensure engineering works are planned, coordinated and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage junior site engineers across multiple projects.
• Coordinate all engineering, surveying and setting-out activities.
• Provide technical guidance, training and support to junior engineers.
• Review construction drawings, specifications and design information.
• Identify drawing discrepancies, design clashes and technical issues before works commence.
• Ensure accurate setting out of drainage, watermains, services, foundations, roads and site infrastructure.
• Manage as-built surveys, quality records, testing documentation and engineering reports.
• Liaise with consultants, designers, main contractors and site management teams.
• Ensure engineering equipment, GPS systems and total stations are used correctly.
• Assist with technical planning and upcoming work requirements.
• Monitor engineering progress and ensure works comply with drawings and specifications.
• Travel between projects to provide engineering support and supervision.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer within groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong experience in residential site development and infrastructure works.
• Excellent knowledge of drainage, utilities, foundations and roads.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
• Proficient in Leica, Trimble GPS, Total Stations and AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret complex construction drawings and resolve technical issues.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience working on Irish construction projects is essential.
• Full driving licence required.
