StoryToys is a Top-Ten children’s app creator, delivering a suite of apps for children between the ages of 2 and 8. We work with the world’s biggest entertainment IP (Intellectual Property), translating their loved characters to a digital world. We publish worldwide, in 26 languages with monthly active users in the millions. We are based in Dublin, Ireland but work with a large global team.
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of game development and the creation of fun digital content for millions of kids. Your expertise and leadership will drive the creation and maintenance of exceptional games, while fostering an environment focused on efficiency, innovation, and excellence. Responsibilities:
Develop entertaining, educational mobile games using the Unity engine for multiple platforms, following game development best practices. Our games are played by millions of players young and old.
Develop and advocate for quality implementations that are performant, technically sound, and reusable by other developers.
Train other developers in the intricacies of Unity.
Produce and promote clean, efficient, and optimized code. Be constantly aware of optimizing memory usage, frame rates, garbage collection, maintainability, etc, but with an eye for what is feasible given time and resource constraints.
Be part of a cross-disciplinary team that uses an Agile process.
Collaborate with designers and UX/UI to get thorough specs and flesh out the best way to get new ideas into the game (Work through storyboards, wireframes, feature specs etc).
Contribute to estimating user stories and breaking them down into technical tasks.
Write content pipeline tools and editor extensions to streamline production.
Work closely with the Art team to get awesome artwork into the games while being mindful of performance and platform constraints.
Test your own code extensively and work closely with the QA team to resolve bugs and hit sprint goals with a high production quality.
Work with our Platform team to help develop and implement org-wide systems (e.g. In-App Purchases, deep linking, cross promotion, etc).
Write technical product, process, and training documentation as necessary to minimize legacy knowledge.
Be inventive! Come up with ways to improve process, working with other engineers to implement these improvements.

Requirements:
At least 5 years of software development experience.
At least 2 years of experience with Unity.
Minimum of one shipped title.
Excellent C# skills.
Excellent debugging skills.
Great communication skills. While our focus is on product, you will also have experience writing technical documentation.
Solid understanding of real-time rendering and rendering bottlenecks.
Solid understanding how to write low-latency and low-garbage code in C#.
Fluent in using Git.
Strong understanding of SOLID programming principles, how systems work together and various common architectural approaches.
Enjoy solving difficult technical problems, in large, complex systems.
But most of all. You will LOVE creating video games.

Nice to have:
5+ years of game-dev industry experience.
Familiarity with Automated Build Systems and Continuous Integration.
Familiarity with the App Store and Google Play Submission processes.
An understanding of how kids approach play.
