We are looking for a talented and driven application scientist to take on a maternity cover role. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills within the Applied R&D Fresh Dairy teams.

You will contribute to the development of innovative biosolutions for Fresh Dairy, working at the intersection of microbiology, process optimization, and dairy science.

We would love to meet candidates from a variety of backgrounds who have a passion for understanding the interaction between microbial interaction, milk matrixes and dairy processes/technology.

You will become part of the global Fresh Dairy department which is anchored within a larger Applied R&D Fresh Dairy organization in Denmark, France, USA and China.

Located in Hørsholm, Denmark, our team has a global role and collaborates closely with commercial, R&D, local application teams, Sales and our customers all over the world. The department in Denmark consists of three teams with different areas of responsibility – Projects & Competences, Dairy Sensory and Technical Support.

The Projects & Competences team, you are joining, plays a pivotal role in both short and long-term new product and competence development projects. The aim is to develop new solutions of microbial cultures and enzymes for our customers for a wide range of fresh dairy products. We are using state-of-the-art production pilot plant and laboratory technologies, methodologies and modern equipment to deliver on our ambition.

Your new team is multicultural and values good collaboration, open communication and high quality. We work in a flexible way across many different projects to accommodate our customers’ needs.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:

• Leading projects aiming at exploring, designing and developing unique & delicious fermented dairy products using tailored made cultures, dairy ingredients and advanced dairy technology.
• Applying and deepening our understanding of mode of interaction between microbes, enzymes applied to fermented dairy products.
• Planning and managing trials, shelf-life studies, and industrial validations at customer sites to demonstrate the value of new biosolutions
• Inspiring customers by demonstrating that the combined use of novonesis products, dairy ingredients and the right process technology can result in innovative concept products.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to share knowledge, best practices and insights and ensure seamless integration of findings into product development processes.
• Leading the implementation of new technologies (lab & pilot equipment) and analytical methods
• Traveling to customers or external Novonesis sites up to 10% of the time, will also be part of the role.

To succeed you must hold:

• PhD in Food Science/Technology, Applied Microbiology, Biotechnology or related fields, and related scientific track record.
• Expertise in microbiology, microbial interactions and enzymology applied to fermented milk applications.
• Expertise in dairy ingredients and dairy technology
• Interest in and willingness to do practical work in our lab and dairy pilot plant.
• Highly skilled in experimental planning and analysis of complex datasets
• Natural interest and drive for developments in digitalization.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
• Strong problem solving ability and attention to detail skills
• Strong consultation and influencing capability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographies and cultures, with a collaborative and inclusive mindset.
• Be prepared for international travel to collaborate with global/local teams and attend relevant meetings
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive, collaborative and customer-oriented mindset.

Finally, the successful candidate must have overall good understanding of applicability of biosolutions in customer-like settings and understand how tech-

nology and processes contribute to the final product characteristics such as flavor and texture.
