Job Description

Shape safe, supportive workplaces where people can thrive.

At AFCA, our purpose is simple yet powerful, fairness for all. Behind every complaint we resolve is a team of people doing meaningful work, and we’re committed to ensuring they feel safe, supported and able to do their best work every day.

We’re looking for a Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to play a key role in shaping and delivering our HSW strategy, combining big-picture thinking with hands-on impact.

The opportunity

This is a true end-to-end advisory role, where you’ll partner with leaders across the organisation to drive a proactive, contemporary approach to health, safety and wellbeing.

You’ll:

  • Lead and support incident investigations, risk management and governance
  • Drive initiatives across physical and psychosocial safety
  • Provide expert, practical advice to leaders and employees
  • Partner on injury management and return-to-work outcomes
  • Use data and insights to uplift organisational HSW maturity

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys influencing at a senior level, while also rolling up their sleeves to deliver meaningful, on-the-ground improvements.

This role is a permanent role that can be either full time or part-time (minimum 4 days a week).

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

You’re a confident and pragmatic HSW professional who can balance strategy, compliance and care.

You’ll come with:

  • Strong experience across health, safety and wellbeing advisory, ideally in a complex organisation
  • Deep knowledge of HSW legislation, risk management and incident frameworks
  • Proven experience managing workers’ compensation and injury cases
  • A passion for psychological safety and employee wellbeing
  • The ability to engage, influence and build trust with senior leaders
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with strong attention to detail

Experience in financial or legal environments, and RTW accreditation, will be highly regarded.

Additional Information

Additional information

  • Silver AWEI Accreditation 2025 – Recognised for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.
  • Accredited Family Friendly Workplace – Supporting work-life balance and inclusivity.
  • Hybrid working – Flexible arrangements with two days a week in our modern offices designed for collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Additional and inclusive leave options – Flexible public holidays, gender affirmation leave, women’s health leave, and bonus paid time off over the end of year holiday period.

Ready to make a difference?

If you’re passionate about creating safe, supportive and high-performing workplaces and want to be part of an organisation that genuinely puts people first, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply

If you’re passionate about fairness and believe your skills align with this role, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single criterion.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. If you require any accessibility support during the recruitment process, please reach out to our team at [email protected].

We believe fairness starts with people. That’s why we don’t use AI or automated tools to screen candidates. As a result, our processes may take a little longer, and we thank you for your patience.
