This role will provide Senior HR Advisor services to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's (DPMC). DPMC has a unique role as the trusted advisor, leader and steward of our system of executive government. DPMC provides high quality, impartial advice and support services to the Prime Minister, Cabinet and the Governor General.


As an organisation, it has seven business groups: Cabinet Office, Government House, National Security Group, Risk and Systems Governance Group, Policy Advisory Group, Strategy, Governance and Engagement, and the Delivery Unit. DPMC is also the host of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Cyclone Recovery Unit.

The role requires extensive engagement with managers and directors to understand their areas of the organisation, their strategic objectives and to identify and resolve their strategic people risks. This role supports the development and delivery of HR service, policy, practice and strategy.

As the Senior HR Advisor the role will have a particular focus on ER and Change during this time, whilst ensuring delivery of the HR services within a relationship/account management model and assigned business groups. The Senior HR Advisor works collaboratively with HR Managers, HR Advisors and members of the wider HR team to deliver services. A full job description is attached.


Ko wai koe | About you

We select on capability and welcome a wide range of applications where the candidate can demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in human resources
  • In-depth experience of management issues (people, resources, systems and processes)
  • Experience of partnering with business groups to deliver strategic HR solutions
  • Extensive experience in the provision of operational human resources processes and systems
  • Proven ability to carry out a range of human resource services in a professional and confidential manner
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including informing others
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environment.
