Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Maintenance Technician to lead our maintenance team and help ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Administrator, the successful candidate will oversee the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the building's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, computerized building systems, and life safety systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water supply, sewage, and fire protection systems, while coordinating seasonal changeovers and preventative maintenance programs in accordance with long-term care legislation and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs the following duties up to their respective codes:
• Repairs and maintains mechanical HVAC and Chiller system
• Maintains the computerized building automation system
• Assists in maintaining, repairing and inspecting hydrants, valves in fire house cabinets, fire extinguishers and automatic sprinkler system
• Repairing heating and chilled water units, coils, radiators, convectors, heat exchangers and mechanical seals in pumps, kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Repairing and overhauling all machines and equipment used in the facility
• Replacing and maintaining all fixtures, fittings, and other appliances as required
• Repairing defective flush valves, faucets, mixing valves, urinals, toilets and other appliances.
• Repairing washroom facilities, drains, sewers, sumps, sinks and grease interceptors.
• Daily work assignments in accordance with priorities and requisitions as provided.
• Assists with Preventative Maintenance programs and keeps accurate records as per standards.
• Performs minor project work, equipment installation and testing of work done
• Performs building audits, daily preventative maintenance and fire code requirements
• Follows the Occupational Health and Safety Act in all job duties

Skills / Qualifications

• College Diploma in building/facility maintenance and/or trades such as plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, etc. or equivalent experience (3-5 yrs)
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a senior maintenance position and able to handle a variety of tools and equipment.
• Must be able to act quickly under emergency conditions and able to move heavy objects as per the standard in the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Thoroughness in workmanship is essential.

This role is essential for maintaining operational excellence within our Long Term Care Facility while providing leadership that fosters safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions.

Education:

• AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
