About Venture Building (New Ventures)

EDB New Ventures is the venture building arm of EDB. Our aim is to support the creation and scaling of high potential new ventures from Singapore to become globally leading businesses. To do so, we partner companies for their corporate venturing journeys and supporting established global founders as they build their next ventures from Singapore. This includes embarking on joint venture building sprints alongside partner corporates / global founders, co-investment to risk-share early-stage growth of high potential ventures and active portfolio value creation support to scale each venture. We are also building founder platforms that foster greater exchanges between founders and accelerate growth of high potential ventures.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our New Ventures team to support the strategy and execution for our venturing efforts for corporates and high-potential founders. This role includes community programming, events management and operations, strategy development and program management. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple teams in EDB, to translate our work into business outcomes. Our community of founders and ventures is highly international and cuts across a diverse range of sectors, such as AI, deep tech, health care.
[What you will be working on]
As the Community Lead, you are responsible for the development and execution of our founder community strategy from end-to-end, with the objective of providing value to our portfolio of founders and ventures. This is a role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, to refine our strategy, identify suitable partners, and to bring our community ideas to life.

Some of your tasks include, but are not limited to:

Community Programming
  • Support member onboarding and maintenance of members database to record founder and venture information and track community engagement metrics
  • Refine and develop community strategy and programme, based on the needs of our community founders and their respective ventures.
  • Manage and support digital platforms, including developing and maintaining content such as community resources, channelling member specific requests to relevant stakeholders, basic troubleshooting on technical issues (and redirecting to relevant experts if necessary).
Program development and management
  • Have a strong understanding of our founders’ needs and business interests, through founder interactions, ongoing check-ins with other relationship managers, and surveys (conducted where relevant)
  • Develop new tools and programs from end-to-end to meet these needs and interests at-scale, such as (a) designing the approach to onboard and manage a group of external partners to support our founders in areas such as fundraising, go-to-market, marketing, etc. and (b) deliver meaningful connections (customers, VCs, partnerships, advisory etc.) at scale through digital, events or other 1-many means between Community members and also networks outside of the Community
Events Management and Operations
  • Support the events and partnerships strategy, including partner/vendor assessment, events logistics and evaluation post event AARs
  • Lead the planning and execution of events, including shaping programming and guestlist, RSVP coordination, venue and F&B selection, and on-site support
  • Track and analyse events and partnerships performance metrics
[What we are looking for]
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role for community and / or marketing, preferably from a Venture Capital or accelerator firm
  • Excellent track record in at least 3 of the following:
  • Experience in setting up or managing a startup founder community from end-to-end, from strategy development to community management
  • Experience in managing multiple internal stakeholders, maintaining internal databases to support internal knowledge management, and reporting to senior management
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of startups and providing value creation opportunities to support the growth of their business
  • Experience in events management from planning to execution
  • A strong interest and passion for venture growth, community engagement, and ecosystem building
  • Possess the following attributes and skillsets:

  • Adaptable and be a strong team player in an agile environment
  • Confidence in engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, project management and analytical skills
  • Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conversational business mandarin would be a plus
