Senior Medical Officer - Obstetrics & Gynaecology - Fixed Term
Where you’ll be working: Waikato Hospital - Hamilton, New Zealand

The details: Fixed Term - Full time – 40 hours per week (Commencing 14 April 2025 for a period of three months)

Salary details: as per MECA

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our dedicated team in Women’s and Children’s Health. A commitment to patient centred care and multi-disciplinary team-work is essential. Applicants must be both flexible in their approach and be willing to contribute positively to the service with particular focus on elective services. The applicant must be eligible for medical registration in New Zealand.


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Ward rounds and ward work
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Pre-theatre assessments and operation lists
  • On-call duties
  • Multi-disciplinary meetings, case conferences and reviews

Mōu | About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Vocational registration in a Obstetrics and Gynaecology speciality
  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand with scope of practice
  • A practising certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Satisfactory check as per the Children’s Act
  • Experience in building and sustaining collaborative working relationships in a high-pressure environment to enable and deliver effective change management.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others
