Type of Appointment : One Year Fixed Term Graded Contract, with possibility of extension

Context:
IOM Ireland has been operating in Ireland since 2001, currently in following areas of migration management: Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Resettlement, Family Reunification, Counter-Trafficking, Protection, Integration Support to Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, Integrated Immigration Governance and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
IOM provides mental health and psychosocial support to international protection seekers residing in the Citywest accommodation facility with the aim to improve their psychosocial well-being and to strengthen their overall resilience.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Ireland and the direct supervision of the Head of MHPSS Unit and in collaboration with the Senior Cultural Mediation and Community Engagement Associate, the incumbent will support the implementation of project activities related to the mental health technical support for the international protection seekers residing in Citywest Transit Hub and elsewhere.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Support the coordination of the daily activities of MHPSS Associates and case workers, helping maintain consistency in case documentation and adherence to MHPSS approaches.
2. Assist in the organization and scheduling of psychosocial assessments, counselling sessions, and wellbeing activities, with particular attention to cases flagged as vulnerable (e.g. survivors of GBV, victims of trafficking, unaccompanied or separated children, and persons with medical or mental health needs) by clinical or protection staff.
3. Support the review of case-related documentation to verify completeness, accuracy and compliance with established templates and procedures.
4. Facilitate referrals to specialised services (e.g. legal aid, shelters, medical, or advanced mental health care) by preparing documentation, liaising with service providers and following up on referral status.
5. Regularly liaise with government authorities, civil society, and relevant partners, as instructed, to support access to mental health and psychosocial services for migrants and asylum seekers.
6. Maintain and update internal procedures, checklists, and guidelines in line with MHPSS standards and IOM protection principles.
7. Support the organization of case conferences, team discussions, and capacity-building activities, including logistical arrangements, preparation of materials and follow-up on agreed actions.
8. Carry out accurate, confidential, and timely data entry and documentation in IOM’s databases and case management systems.
9. Support the dissemination and updating of information materials and tools used by counsellors and case workers in their daily tasks.
10. Keep abreast of policies, standards and best practices affecting international protection applicants in Ireland and share updates with the team.
11. Draft statistical and narrative reports on MHPSS activities, trends, and challenges for internal use and contributions to donor reporting.
12. Support IOM’s participation in MHPSS coordination forums and working groups by providing inputs, sharing information, or attending meetings as delegated.
13. Maintain close communication and coordination with internal and external partners involved in MHPSS programming and service delivery.
14. Support the monitoring of programme expenditures and support procurement and logistics activities in line with IOM procedures.
15. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- High school diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience supporting mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities.
- Experience supporting project coordination and programme administration in humanitarian or social service settings.
- Familiarity with State agencies, NGOs, and community organizations in Ireland is an asset.
- Familiarity with issues related to displacement, migration, and integration.
- Experience working in multicultural environments and with government, UN, or international organizations.
- Previous work with humanitarian or non-governmental institutions is an advantage.
SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and emotional resilience.
- Intercultural competence and effective communication skills.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of any UN languages an advantage.
