The NEC Cost Validation manager is responsible for overseeing the validation of costs associated with NEC (New Engineering Contract) contracts, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency in cost management. The role holder is responsible for ensuring that projects adhere to NEC contract conditions, and verifying the assessment of disallowed costs. The NEC Cost Validation manager validates the contractors work against the scope, specifications and requirements as outlined in the NEC contract.

You will manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
You will be accountable for the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses to achieve formal execution by appropriate parties.
You will manage costing associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges, and present these to clients.
Validate and verify costs associated with NEC contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Ensure contractor's work aligns with the NEC contract and its provisions.
Monitor contractor forecasts and expenditures, providing detailed reports and analysis to stakeholders.
Identify and assess potential cost risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost reporting and validation.
Maintain comprehensive records of cost validation processes and outcomes.
Ensure all cost validation activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
Understand and apply the project scope and requirements outlined in the NEC contract to validate the contractor's work.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in cost validation.
Perform additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.

You will provide leadership to Managers and other professionals to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.

You will manage Cost Consultants to identify and execute opportunities that improve cost management procedures, templates and products to enhance services provided to stakeholder
You’ll need to have:
10+ years’ experience with at least 5 years cost management experience in high value metro rail projects or projects of a similar scale and complexity.
Ability to successfully lead, coordinate and deliver on large and complex construction projects.
Ability to manage multiple technical requirements and teams within a construction environment.
Ability to manage technical outputs to drive efficiency.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and consistent dialogue between all parties involved.
Ability to create a collaborative culture across the project team.
Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service delivery.
Ability to deal with and resolving unforeseen risks and issues.
Excellent stakeholder negotiation and management skills.
Strong team leadership skills with an ability to influence upwards to drive effective design decision making.
Motivated, driven, enthusiastic, hard-working.
Ability to step back from the detail and take a holistic overview.
Possesses a positive “can do” attitude and is capable of working on several projects simultaneously.
Ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and deliver consistent service.
Ability to manage client expectations and deliver within agreed parameters.
Ability to work in a challenging environment both on their own initiative and as part of a team.
You’ll also have:
Level 8 Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent)
Level 9 Masters in relevant field would be advantageous (or equivalent masters)
Chartered member of a relevant professional body e.g., Chartered Engineer (MICE, IEI or equivalent)/Chartered Quantity Surveyor (SCSI/RICS)
