The Operational Policy team is part of the Regulatory Enablement Directorate with a focus on strengthening regulatory decision making across the anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and gambling systems. These roles require kaimahi who can provide leadership of operational analysis, business improvement and change.
The successful applicant will have a background in policy implementation, and business advice, with an understanding and experience of legislative and regulatory change. They will be able to navigate through complex stakeholder engagements, understand, monitor and analyse regulatory systems, and contribute to cross-agency work. This role requires a thought leader, subject-matter and technical expert who can provide coaching and mentoring to other staff.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Significant experience in operational policy or policy in a regulatory environment, or similar skills from a regulatory context.
- High quality written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences.
- An understanding of how to operationalise and implement changes to legislation and regulations.
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement ability.
- Attention to detail and demonstrate drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation and resilience.
- The ability to lead and manage projects, and mentor and coach others.
- Have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to contribute to, and support, effective strategies in achieving responsiveness to Māori.
Understanding and experience of the gambling system, the AML/CFT system or an equivalent financial regulatory system would be an advantage.
