Classification : General Service Staff, G6
Type of Appointment : Special Short Term Graded Contract, until 31.12.2026, with possibility of extension

IOM Ireland has been operating in Ireland since 2001, currently in following areas of migration management: Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Resettlement, Family Reunification, Counter-Trafficking, Protection, Integration Support to Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, Integrated Immigration Governance and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Ireland and direct supervision of the National Programme Officer and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and in the Regional Office, the Senior Project Associate will be responsible and accountable for providing assistance with the implementation of the National Counter-Trafficking Capacity Development (NCTCD) Programme.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities.
2. Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
3. Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, share knowledge and expertise, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
4. Guide and monitor work of consultants and report non-compliance to the supervisor.
5. Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.
6. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
7. Organize meetings, bilateral consultations, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
8. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
9. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
10. Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- School diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage;
- Experience with counter-trafficking programming, capacity building and awareness raising;
- Strong experience in delivering training and developing training material for governmental authorities, and;
- Proven experience with project implementation, monitoring, financial management, reporting, and evaluation tools.
Skills:
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization, including protection and counter-trafficking;
- Proven competencies in liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including government authorities, international and national institutions, diplomatic missions, and non-governmental partners
- Strong drafting skills, with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, administrative and time-management skills;
- Ability to work independently against tight deadlines;
Languages:
- IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of any UN languages an advantage
