Your personal scope:
The Senior Scientist contributes to research, teaching and "third mission" in the field of Austrian politics. The focus is on research on political parties with a special focus on party communication and party organization in the Second Republic. Formally, the position is located at the Department of Government, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and is filled permanently.
Your future tasks:
You perform the following tasks, among others:
- You will organise and supervise the data collection and coding of party communication (e.g. election programmes, parliamentary speeches, social media, election posters, etc.) within the framework of the Austrian National Election Study (AUTNES)
- You will coordinate the analysis of party communication with the AUTNES teams for voter surveys and media analyses
- You are responsible for collecting data on inner-party organisation and communication in the history of the Second Republic (e.g. party congress speeches, party statutes, internal party documents)
- You coordinate and make a scientific contribution as a country expert for international research consortia and expert surveys (e.g. Political Party Database, MAPP project, Chapel Hill Expert Survey, V-Dem) and election advice applications (e.g. Wahlkompass, smartvote)
- You will be responsible for the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of knowledge with public institutions, political parties, media and civil society organisations (e.g. parliament, party academies, wahlbeobachtung.org, Initiative Besser Verwaltung, MehrGrips, Netzwerk Chance Demokratie)
- You will ensure the transparency and availability of research data on political parties in cooperation with the Austrian Social Science Data Archive (AUSSDA)
- You will participate in research projects and scientific studies in the field of ÖPS and participate in project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- You will publish in leading international scientific journals
- You will teach political science in the modules on the Austrian political system in the BA and MA programmes to the extent of the provisions of the collective agreement
- You will take on the tasks of university self-administration

Completed doctorate in political scienc- e Research focus in the field of Austrian politics, especially party communication, party organization and inner-party democrac
- y Experience in data collection, data processing and coding of party communication material
- s Experience in researching and dealing with materials on party organization and inner-party institutions, including dealing with archival source
- s Very good knowledge of quantitative methods, especially quantitative text analysi
- s Experience in leading data collection in research team
- s Experience in teaching the Austrian political syste
- m Gender and diversity skill
- s Excellent knowledge of German and Englis
