We are now looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Nuclear power plant analysis team.

As a Senior Scientist, your key goals are conducting impactful high-quality research and managing projects related to analysis of nuclear power plants with the help of modelling and simulation. In this position you will have an essential role in development of safe and efficient utilization of nuclear energy to provide carbon-free energy for the society.

Our team, Nuclear power plant analysis works on R&D related to analysing the behaviour of nuclear power plants by means of numerical simulation, to ensure their safety and efficient operation. At the centre of our operations is the Apros software, that is used for safety assessment, optimization and design of nuclear installations as well as other industrial systems. We are currently working with major renewal and enhancements to the software.

Your responsibilities as Senior Scientist:

  • You’ll participate as key expert or project manager in research and developments projects focused on computational analysis of nuclear power plants, both from the points of view of safety assessment and operational efficiency
  • You’ll use your deep understanding of and wide knowledge on nuclear technology, safety and regulation to assess and interpret simulation results, to derive impactful conclusions from the simulation studies
  • You’ll participate in active role in ideation and preparation of domestic and international research projects on nuclear safety, including securing research funding
  • You’ll actively disseminate your research results in reports, scientific, publications and conferences

Who we are looking for:

  • You have a Doctoral or Master’s degree from a relevant branch of technology or science (e.g. nuclear, mechanical, automation or chemical engineering, or engineering/applied physics or mathematics)
  • You have a firm understanding and knowledge on topics including nuclear safety, licensing of nuclear power plants, preparation of safety analysis reports, and nuclear regulation
  • You have at least three years of experience in applying system-scale safety analysis codes (e.g. Apros, RELAP5, TRACE) in modelling and safety assessment of nuclear power plants
  • You have experience in managing projects and delivering impactful high-quality results
  • You express yourself clearly in English, both in writing and spoken, and are able to convey complex ideas, concepts and meaning to stakeholders of different backgrounds. Mastery of the Finnish language is not mandatory but beneficial.
