Senior Scientist Position In Iii-N Semiconductor Technology For Power Electronics

We are now looking for a Senior Scientist for III-N power device development with a strong background in III-N semiconductor physics, metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE), cleanroom fabrication, power electronics, process integration or simulations. As a senior scientist at VTT, you will have an essential role in effectively securing funding, leading and executing high quality research projects and guiding younger researchers and research support staff. You are expected to communicate and network extensively both within the organisation and externally with colleagues, customers, and the broader research community. You understand the big picture of III-N semiconductor devices for power electronics and are able to participate in the concept development.

Our team, nanoelectronics, develop advanced semiconductor nanocomponents targeting beyond power electronics, in-memory neuromorphic computing, and post-CMOS integration. The developments are made in close collaboration with our academic partners along the lines agreed with our industrial partners.

As a Senior Scientist your responsibilities would include:

• Acting as a project manager
• Conducting research work
• Acquiring and managing research projects, preparing funding applications, and conducting funding negotiations
• Dissemination, like writing scientific publications and delivering presentations in different forums
• Active contribution in commercialization of research results
• Reasonably regular travel for tasks such as conference presentations and participation

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

• Doctoral degree or master’s degree and equivalent knowledge and competence in physics, material science, electronics, or closely similar field.
• Solid experience in research and development of WBG semiconductors
• Ability to manage large entities, identify customer needs, and create new approaches
• Resilience in work and critical thinking skills
• Interaction and communication skills in English and the ability to present convincingly and communicate research results clearly to different audiences
• Ability to identify essential research information and adapt communication to different
