Surface Drilling Division within Sandvik Mining is a world leading supplier of surface mining and construction equipment and related services. We are strengthening and developing our Software team and are now looking for a proactive and future-oriented Senior Software Engineer for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. Our Software team creates and develops surface drill rig control system software. Team is responsible for designing software architecture and implementing it in the form of graphical user interface and back-end services using selected interfaces and protocols to communicate between distributed embedded control system subsystems. The software team is involved in new product development projects and lifecycle maintenance of current products. Our team works fluently using agile methods with system engineering and software testing teams.

In this role, you

Work with onboard control system software requirements and features turning them into implementable software solutions and contributing to overall software solutions and architectures.
Actively collaborate with system engineering and software testing teams as control system features are developed and tested.
Co-operate with other developers and find best maintainable solutions for new features and found issues.
Manage CI/CD pipelines for test automation, build integration and cybersecurity tools as well as other developer tools.

About you and what we find important

We expect you to have experience in Linux based embedded control systems, agile software processes and development. You have solid background with C++ programming language and have worked with application programming interfaces (Web APIs). We are currently utilizing modern frameworks for new products. Overall understanding about web technologies (e.g. Vue.js, Node.js, Typescript), IoT protocols (e.g. MQTT, REST, WebSockets, DDS), containers, virtualization and cybersecurity practices & tools are not strange for you.

You have a suitable degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in computer science, automation or equivalent. You can specify, plan, document and communicate your ideas and you have a proactive systematic and structured way of working. For Finnish speakers, fluency in English is required. For English speakers, familiarity with Finnish is considered an advantage but not required.
