Purpose
- Deliver efficient, friendly, and professional table service to ensure an excellent dining experience for guests, support smooth front‑of‑house operations, and help maximize sales and guest satisfaction.
Key responsibilities and duties
- Guest service
- Greet guests promptly and escort them to tables when required.
- Present menus, explain daily specials and signature dishes (including local Goan/seafood specialties), and answer menu questions.
- Make informed recommendations and upsell appropriately (starters, pairings, desserts, drinks).
- Order taking and delivery
- Accurately take food and beverage orders, confirm special requests/allergies, and enter orders into the POS in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar to ensure correct and timely delivery of items.
- Check back with guests soon after food delivery to ensure satisfaction and correct any issues.
- Beverage service and responsible alcohol service
- Serve beverages and cocktails according to recipe and presentation standards.
- Check IDs and follow responsible alcohol service policies and local liquor laws.
- Billing and cash/pos handling
- Prepare bills accurately, process payments (cash, card, digital wallets), and return correct change/receipts.
- Follow cash-handling and POS reconciliation procedures.
- Setup, cleanliness and turnover
- Set and reset tables to Folga Goa standards (cutlery, glassware, linens, condiments).
- Maintain dining area cleanliness, remove used plates promptly, and prepare tables quickly for next guests.
- Assist with opening and closing side duties (restocking cutlery, condiments, napkins; polishing glassware; cleaning service stations).
- Teamwork and communication
- Coordinate with hosts, kitchen, bar, and bussing staff to maintain flow and service standards.
- Communicate any special guest needs, allergies, or complaints quickly to supervisor.
- Safety, hygiene and compliance
- Follow food safety and hygiene practices, personal grooming and uniform standards.
- Comply with local health, safety and liquor regulations and any in-house policies (e.g., no smoking in service areas, COVID/health protocols if applicable).
- Special events and catering
- Assist with setup, service and breakdown for private parties, events and beachside service as required.
- Adapt service style to buffets, banquets or outdoor service when needed.
- Customer recovery
- Handle guest complaints professionally, resolve simple issues promptly or escalate to supervisor/manager.
Qualifications and skills
- Previous experience as a server in a restaurant, bar or resort (preferred 1–2 years).
- Good knowledge of food and beverage, preferably with familiarity with Goan cuisine and seafood.
- Basic math skills and experience with POS systems.
- Polite, friendly, well‑spoken; good command of English. Additional languages a plus depending on guest profile.
- Strong communication, multitasking and time‑management skills.
- Physically able to stand and walk for long periods, carry trays and lift moderate weight.
- Valid age and legal permission to work; any required food handler/health certificate per local law.
Performance indicators (KPIs)
- Guest satisfaction ratings / positive reviews.
- Average check size and upsell success.
- Order accuracy and speed of service.
- Table turnover time and cleanliness standards.
- Compliance with cash/POS procedures with minimal discrepancies.
Typical shift checklist (quick)
- Opening: Set tables, stock service station, check reservation list, review daily specials, ensure POS is logged in.
- During shift: Greet guests, take and serve orders, check back with guests, handle payments, communicate issues to kitchen/manager.
- Closing: Clear and clean service areas, polish and store glassware/cutlery, reconcile POS/cash, restock for next shift.
Training & development
- New‑hire training on menu, POS, upselling, responsible alcohol service and emergency procedures.
- Ongoing refreshers on specials, guest service standards and health & safety.
Notes specific to Folga Goa
- Emphasize warm, friendly hospitality for a diverse tourist mix.
- Highlight local specialties and seafood; know dish ingredients and allergen information.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹14,000.00 per month
