Server Job Description:

Purpose of this Position:

The Server ensures the comfort of guests in the dining area and that food service is delivered efficiently and with a professional demeanor. Ste. Anne’s restaurant provides a high level of food quality, value, consistency and satisfaction to the guests, and is considered essential to Ste. Anne’s 4 Diamond hotel standard. You will work closely with the culinary team to ensure complete familiarity with the menu and ingredients, the delivery of high-quality meals, and adhere to food safety standards to create a memorable culinary experience for our guests.

Job Summary:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Wage: $22 to 25 per hour
  • Paid bi-weekly

Responsibilities:

1. Provide high quality service to the guests and rate highly on guest surveys

  • Greet guests warmly by smiling and introducing yourself.
  • Familiarize yourself with the menu and ingredients, and advise guests of the specials.
  • Give recommendations and speak positively of the menu.
  • Revisit your tables and ask them how they are enjoying their meals.
  • If there is a problem with a meal, offer a fresh serving and let the supervisor know. If necessary, keep your table apprised of updates.
  • Demonstrate professional, courteous and knowledgeable conduct to guests and coworkers.
  • Provide support, guidance and coverage for coworkers, as needed.

2. Follow Pre-Order procedures.

  • When greeting guests, bring a water carafe and bread basket to the table.
  • Advise guests of the specials.
  • Take the drink order.
  • When returning to the table, take the food order.

3. Take guest orders accurately and in compliance with Ste. Anne's allergy control protocol.

  • Acknowledge the order by repeating it.
  • Ask and note allergies, and circle them in red.
  • Remove the menus.
  • Place the order in the kitchen and call it.

4. Demonstrate timely service and proper presentation during the service.

  • Place and remove all beverages from the right of the guest, where the nature of the table allows you.
  • At dinner time, bring the amuse before the appetizers.
  • Serve women and elderly guests first, followed by the person to the right of the host. Serve the host last, where relevant.
  • Place and remove all food from the left side of the guest, if the nature of the table allows you. If appropriate, protein should be placed closest to the guest.
  • If there was an allergy flagged at the table, double check that the order placed is correct and the ingredients are safe for them.
  • When placing food, always offer fresh ground pepper.
  • Let the kitchen know when you are ready for your next course.
  • After clearing plates from the table, make sure the table is ready for each course with the appropriate cutlery.
  • Check in frequently to make sure that the guests have water and bread at all times.
  • Before offering desserts, clear the table of all dirty dishes, side plates, and bread basket.
  • Offer coffee and/or tea with the desserts.

Job Requirements:

  • Weekends, evenings and holidays as needed
  • Maintain personal hygiene, including clean, controlled hair and appropriate hair covering
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Able to squat, kneel, bend, lift, twist at the waist, and reach above the shoulder

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 month’s experience as a server or bartender
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
