Job Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, organized Service Manager to lead our Springdale service department. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and rental readiness of our forklift fleet. You will manage a team of skilled technicians and ensure that every job is backed by precise documentation and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor shop and field technicians, ensuring high quality of work and adherence to safety standards.
  • Work Order Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of service work orders, ensuring they are opened, tracked, and closed with 100% accuracy in parts and labor.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Audit technician notes and service reports to ensure clear, professional, and detailed documentation for both internal records and customer billing.
  • Workflow Coordination: Manage service schedules and dispatching to maximize efficiency across rental prep and customer repairs.
  • Customer Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for service inquiries, providing professional quotes and transparent status updates based on real-time work order data.
  • Inventory & Parts: Coordinate with the parts department to ensure all items used are properly logged against the correct work orders to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear collaboration with customers, team members, parts suppliers, and warranty providers.
  • Cash handling experience and familiarity with sales processes are advantageous for broader dealership responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with parts and warranty departments to streamline repair processes and control costs effectively.
  • Accuracy: Maintain accurate service writing, repair estimating, and documentation for all repairs performed.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as productivity, profitability, customer satisfaction scores, and technician efficiency to achieve departmental goals.
  • Oversee fleet vehicle repairs, customer forklift repairs and maintenance, ensuring all work meets quality standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Manage customer interactions from initial vehicle intake through to service completion, providing expert guidance and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-5+ years in service management or as a lead technician (material handling, heavy equipment, or automotive).
  • Administrative Excellence: Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of maintaining clean, audit-ready service records and work orders.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, alignments, oil changes, tire services, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brakes, forklift body repair, and other forklift repairs.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to drive a culture of accountability, specifically regarding safety and paperwork.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in using service management software (e.g., Indeed Employer portal tools or specialized ERPs) to track department KPIs.
  • Proven dealership experience with a strong background in service management.
  • Hands-on: mechanic experience combined with excellent customer service skills to relate effectively with clients.
  • Proficiency: in estimating software and service writing procedures to accurately document repairs.
  • Strong leadership: skills with the ability to motivate a team of technicians and support staff.
