Settlement Social Worker

Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

This role is part of the social work pay equity framework, with a salary range of Category 1, Step 3-10 of the pay spine (pro-rated to 37.5 hours per week), based on your experience.

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

Our Social Worker's provide comprehensive assessments, social work support and settlement support to former refugees settling in New Zealand to regain control of their lives. You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting clients in developing and achieving settlement plans, providing home visits and personalised support.
  • Offering crisis management, social work services, micro-counselling, and skills development to clients.
  • Advocating for clients to ensure access to essential services and resources, making effective referrals.
  • Fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaborate with volunteers to enhance client support.
  • Representing New Zealand Red Cross in community and networking meetings, raising awareness of best practices with service providers.
  • Ensuring all case documentation is maintained accurately, adhering to policies, procedures, and migration staff standards.

To be successful you will:

  • Have a tertiary social work qualification.
  • Hold full registration with the Social Worker Registration Board.
  • Can demonstrate strengths-based social work and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Have relevant experience in social work.
  • Have proven experience of the ability to network and build positive working relationships.
