Dhauwurd-Wurrung Elderly & Community Health Service Inc. is a community-controlled organisation and is committed to creating positive and fulfilling lifestyles for individuals and families. The organisation provides a range of services including Primary Health Care, Social and Emotional Well Being, Family Services, Youth Services and Home and Community Care.

This is an identified position open to only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

We are seeking a passionate WWATCH Worker to join our team.

This community-driven initiative was developed in collaboration with Elders to address the wellbeing of women, children, and adolescents in our community.

About the Role

As the WWATCH Worker, you will deliver a person-centred, culturally appropriate program that supports and empowers mothers and their children through connection to community, culture, and spirituality. You will play a vital role in closing the gap in health outcomes for Indigenous Australians by focusing on physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver the WWATCH Program to meet community needs.
  • Advocate for clients to access health and social services, including Aboriginal Health Checks and Mental Health Plans.
  • Enhance health literacy and reduce high-risk behaviours among women and children.
  • Facilitate culturally enriching activities that strengthen identity and community ties.
  • Collaborate with health professionals, service providers, and local organisations to ensure accessible and appropriate care.

About You

You are passionate about making a difference in the lives of Indigenous women and children. You possess cultural knowledge, relevant qualifications, or lived experience and willingness to gain qualifications and are committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Essential Requirements:

  • Identify as Indigenous.
  • Relevant qualifications (or equivalent experience) in social work, community services, or related fields.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Willingness to complete training, including First Aid and Emergency Management.
  • Proof of vaccination status consistent with public health orders and with DWECH policy (includes but is not limited to COVID-19 (3) - seasonal influenza vaccination highly recommended).

Pay: $25.41 – $37.35 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
