As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled Shipping and Logistics Manager to join our dynamic team and assist in streamlining our supply chain processes, optimizing our operations, and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of our products.
Job Summary:
As our Shipping and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire logistics and supply chain operations. From managing the movement of goods and inventory to leading a team of logistics professionals, your role will be key in ensuring that our products are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively.
Essential Functions:
● · Inbound Freight Management: Coordinate the receipt, unloading, and storage of materials arriving at job sites, our millwork shop and/or our warehouse. Ensure accurate documentation, timely delivery, and proper handling of goods.
· Outbound Freight Management: Oversee the packaging, labeling, and shipment of materials to customers or job sites. Ensure efficient, cost-effective transport while meeting delivery deadlines.
· Carrier & Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality service. Negotiate contracts and monitor carrier performance.
- Jobsite Logistics: Ensure that freight movements are coordinated efficiently with construction teams, keeping in mind the unique requirements and timing needs of the jobsite. Handle the logistics of deliveries and pickups to and from multiple locations.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, track inventory, and manage replenishment processes to meet demand while avoiding excess stock.
- Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution: Address any logistics issues that arise on the jobsite, such as delays, miscommunications, or damaged goods, providing quick resolutions.
- Optimize Processes: Continuously assess and improve logistics processes to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve delivery timelines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to the logistics team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Vendor & Supplier Relationships: Work with external suppliers, carriers, and partners to maintain strong relationships and ensure service quality.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all logistics operations comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices regarding safety, legal, and environmental standards.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reports on logistics performance, including costs, and offer solutions for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to manage operations and lead teams.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of freight forwarding, shipping, and transportation management.
- Experience managing logistics for construction or industrial job sites is a plus.
- Proficiency in logistics software and supply chain management tools (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and reduce operational costs.
- Knowledge of international shipping and customs (if relevant).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP),
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or similar credentials are a plus.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience working in logistics for construction, manufacturing, or other jobsite-heavy industries, like a lumber yard or warehouse.
- Shipping Knowledge: Familiarity with various freight carriers, shipping methods, and freight documentation requirements.
This position operates in a warehouse environment and is required to use operating equipment and standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. e.g. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Travel is primarily local and will include routine visits to our LIC office; Some travel is out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
