Shipping/ Receiving Clerk & Material Handling Specialist
Pop Daddy Snacks is a growing premium snack food company based in Howell, MI, producing high‑quality popcorn and seasoned pretzels distributed throughout the United States and Canada. The Shipping/Receiving & Material Handling Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate documentation, efficient warehouse operations, and safe movement of materials throughout the facility. This position blends clerical shipping/receiving responsibilities with hands‑on forklift operation and inventory handling at our Novi Distribution Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and process paperwork for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Scan, file, and organize shipping documents for invoicing, audits, and record retention.
- Maintain accurate logs, digital files, and documentation for all shipping transactions.
- Utilize inventory tracking systems, ERP platforms, ASNs, and EDI sites (such as Fishbowl, SPS Commerce, or similar) to track shipments and documentation.
- Facilitate and submit ASNs accurately and on time.
- Communicate with trucking companies to confirm delivery schedules, pickup times, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure all Bills of Lading and related shipping documents are complete and compliant.
- Use Google Drive, Gmail, and other Google tools to store, share, and manage records efficiently.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, missing paperwork, or documentation issues related to shipments.
- Safely operate forklifts (sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck) and other material‑handling equipment to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load, unload, and stage materials, finished goods, and raw ingredients in designated storage areas.
- Assist with inventory control through accurate documentation, labeling, and organization of materials.
- Inspect and verify incoming materials against invoices or packing slips to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment, including aisles, racks, and storage areas.
- Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to prioritize tasks and support efficient workflow.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, logistics, warehouse operations, or clerical documentation.
- Proven experience operating forklifts or material‑handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking systems, ERP systems, ASNs, and EDI platforms (SPS Commerce preferred).
- Proficiency with Google Drive, Gmail, and digital document management.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with Bills of Lading and general shipping documentation is a plus.
- Experience with scan gun technology or similar tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to forklift operation and material handling.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Fast‑paced warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Requires safe operation of forklifts and other equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
