SUMMARY

Reporting to the HSE Manager, Site Safety Advisor is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy working environment to all levels of employees with the assistance of internal policies and procedures, as well as provincial legislation.

JOB DUTIES

  • Implement the health and safety policies for the project
  • Provide advice, strategies, and problem solving to project management on all health and safety matters
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the Safety department and front-line management in the implementation and development of ICT and/or Client Safety Management Systems
  • Compile safety start up documentation
  • Lead and facilitate the task hazard analysis and risk assessment process
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations by reporting and implementing corrective actions
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate incident reporting, and safety statistics for the project
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and attend daily toolbox meetings
  • Ensure compliance with respect to employee safety training
  • Liaise with project management to ensure compliance with safety legislation at all times
  • Review FLHA’s and Hazard ID’s
  • Complete site safety orientations for new employees and sub-contractors
  • Assist in the coordination of required training for employees
  • Assist in the development and management of Emergency Response Plans
  • Work with management to assist with Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Develop return to work programs with project supervision and management
  • Prepare and assist with external safety audits
  • Other duties as requested by management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience in an industrial setting
  • NCSO certification or completed OH&S program is preferred
  • Working knowledge of all related safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
