Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating dozers, excavators, and motor graders to support site preparation, grading, trenching, and earthmoving activities. This role requires precision, situational awareness, and a strong understanding of construction site dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate dozers for rough and finish grading, pushing material, and site clearing.
  • Use excavators for trenching, digging, loading, and demolition tasks.
  • Operate motor graders to achieve precise grade and slope for roads, pads, and drainage.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues.
  • Work closely with site supervisors and survey crews to follow grade stakes and layout plans.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and comply with company safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crews and other operators to coordinate tasks.

  • Mentor other team members by teaching them proper techniques for grading operations.
  • Be punctual, dependable, and professional always.
  • Work with cost effectiveness, profitability, and safety in mind.
  • Lead by example.
  • Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present.
  • Attend daily safety and project coordination meeting.
  • Restore post construction work to original condition or better.
  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities.
  • Willingness to work hours as required.

Education/Training/Certification (Preferred not required):

  • OSHA Training.
  • MSHA Part 46 Training.
  • Trenching and Shoring Competent Person.
  • Rigging.
  • First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment.
  • Proficiency in operating dozers, excavators, and motor graders.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and GPS systems (Trimble or Topcon experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of soil types, compaction, and grading techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and terrain.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor construction sites with exposure to weather, dust, and noise.
  • May require overtime, weekend work, and travel between job sites.

Physical demands include climbing, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
