POSITION SUMMARY

The Skills Development Facilitator/Instructor designs and delivers essential skills training, from foundational literacy through to post-secondary preparation, to empower adults as they transition into employment, higher education, or navigate daily life with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Delivery:

Develop and implement an engaging and relevant curriculum that focuses on essential skills, including communication, numeracy, digital literacy, employability and financial skills where applicable.

Create, curate, and manage learning resources and materials, including digitization and collation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Support the implementation of blended learning approaches that integrate digital, in-person, and virtual training solutions.

Adapt delivery methods and materials to meet students' diverse needs.

Utilize various delivery techniques, including group activities, individual training, and technology-based learning.

Develop class and lesson schedules in collaboration with the Learning Coordinator and Management.

Assessment, Feedback and Reporting:

Assess students regularly to identify skill gaps, educational needs, and monitor progress through various methods, including observation, informal assessments, and formal evaluations.

Report all learning activities, goal changes, learning barriers, progress, and resources used to the Learning Coordinator.

Monitor training plans and provide feedback in support of their learning goals.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements, electronically file appropriately and report to the team.

Maintain the program data-tracking sheet for funder reporting and statistical analysis.

Gather student feedback for reporting and continuous improvement.

Support the digitization of student files and resources through the approved platform.

Student Support and Motivation:

Promote a culture of continuous learning by creating an engaging learning environment that promotes skills acquisition and retention.

Motivate students to be accountable in their learning

Offer personalized support and guidance to address individual needs and challenges.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with staff members, volunteers and community partners to ensure student support.

Communicate regularly with students and provide updates on their progress.

Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Advocacy and Outreach:

Advocate for students' needs and promote the importance of skills development.

Engage with the community to raise awareness about essential skills programs and services, and provide wraparound support to students as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

Degree or diploma in Education, Adult Education, or a related field; a recognized teaching qualification is a strong asset.

Minimum 3 years of experience teaching adults, curriculum development and delivery or a similar role.

Deep knowledge of OALCF, EOIS-CaMS, and Employment Ontario systems, alongside adult learning principles and evaluation techniques.

Experienced with diverse learners (ESL), varied learning styles, and learner-centred approaches.

Strong facilitation, instructional, and organizational skills, especially in multi-level and blended learning environments

Proficient in teaching a variety of subjects, including English and Mathematics (Foundations to Grade 12 equivalent).

Skilled in facilitating multi-level, blended, and virtual environments using various methods (synchronous/asynchronous, hands-on, and remote).

Expert use of MS 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint), Google Classroom, Zoom, Adobe, and various LMS platforms.

Proven ability to compile, track, and report program data accurately.

Maintains ethical student/colleague relationships with strong conflict resolution and judgment.

Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a flexible, fast-paced environment.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have regular access to a reliable vehicle.

Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
