Smoking Aide
Richmond Post Acute is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and resident-focused Smoking Aide to join our team. This role is responsible for safely supervising resident smoking breaks while ensuring compliance with facility policies and maintaining a safe, respectful environment for all residents.
Responsibilities
Escort residents to and from designated smoking areas according to the facility's smoking schedule.
Supervise residents during smoking breaks to ensure safety and compliance with facility policies.
Monitor residents for signs of distress or medical concerns and promptly report any changes to nursing staff.
Ensure proper use and safe disposal of smoking materials.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free smoking area.
Follow all fire safety procedures and infection control guidelines.
Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident needs, concerns, or incidents.
Treat all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Assist with light resident support tasks as directed when not supervising smoking breaks.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or customer service setting is a plus but not required.
Ability to work independently while maintaining close attention to resident safety.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow established schedules.
Ability to push wheelchairs and assist residents with mobility as needed.
Must successfully complete all required background checks and pre-employment screenings.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to push wheelchairs and assist with resident transportation.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
