Netcom, Inc. is a leading provider of wireless communications solutions serving public safety, transportation, utilities, government, and commercial customers throughout the region. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Operator to join our manufacturing team in Wheeling, Illinois.

This role is responsible for operating and monitoring SMT equipment used in the assembly of electronic circuit boards and components. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, follows established procedures, and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production equipment, including pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers, and reflow ovens
  • Load components and materials according to production schedules and work instructions
  • Perform machine changeovers and basic equipment adjustments
  • Inspect circuit boards and assemblies for quality and accuracy
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment or production issues
  • Verify component placement, orientation, and solder quality
  • Maintain production records and documentation
  • Follow all quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures
  • Assist with inventory, material handling, and general production support as needed
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to meet production goals

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous SMT, electronics manufacturing, or assembly experience preferred
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, assembly drawings, and production documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in English
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating SMT equipment and automated assembly machinery
  • Experience with IPC standards or electronic component identification
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or electronics production environment
  • Familiarity with quality inspection processes and manufacturing documentation
