The Opportunity

Workhorse Labour is looking for reliable, dedicated individuals to join our team for sidewalk and walkway snow removal and de-icing this winter season. This is an on-call position requiring flexibility, reliability, and the physical ability to work outdoors, often during overnight and early morning hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Snow Clearing: Manually shovel and operate snow blowers to clear snow from sidewalks, entryways, stairs, and pedestrian walkways at commercial and residential properties.
• De-icing/Salting: Apply salt or de-icing agents to cleared surfaces to prevent ice buildup and ensure pedestrian safety.
• On-Call Availability: Must be available to report to the dispatch location or site, often with short notice, based on snowfall events (day, night, and weekends).
• Quality Control: Ensure all areas are cleared down to the pavement and treated according to company and client standards.
• Equipment Care: Perform basic maintenance checks on snow blowers and other tools, and ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Reliability is Essential: Must have reliable transportation to and from the work area, regardless of weather conditions.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to perform heavy manual labor, including repetitive shoveling, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for long periods in extreme cold.
• Availability: Must be flexible and available for shifts lasting 4–10 hours during major snow events.
• Experience (Asset): Previous experience operating snow blowers, plows, or working in a construction/landscaping environment is an asset but not required.
• Work Ethic: Must be punctual, safety-minded, and able to work effectively and efficiently as part of a small team.
