Are you creative, enjoy capturing photos and videos on your phone, and open to learning and testing new ideas? Are you interested in visual arts, exhibitions, or creative communities? If yes, we’d love to hear from you.

The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts is looking for a summer student to help bring our arts community to life online. This is a hands-on role where you’ll create content, meet artists, and share what’s happening at one of the region’s most active arts organizations.

About the Role
This is a hybrid position. You’ll work partly from home and partly on-site at BMFA, capturing real moments from exhibitions, workshops, and events.

  • Pay: $17.60/hour
  • Hours: Approximately 280 hours total (summer contract)
  • Location: Collingwood, ON (must be able to travel to BMFA 1–2 times per week and attend events, exhibition openings, and occasional weekends)
  • Must be able to apply under the Canada Summer Jobs Program (age 30 and under)

You’ll play a key role in showing people what BMFA is all about.

What You’ll Do

  • Capture photo and video content at the gallery, workshops, and events
  • Create short-form videos (Reels) and posts for Instagram and Facebook
  • Edit content using mobile or desktop tools
  • Write clear, engaging captions
  • Maintain a consistent posting schedule and content calendar
  • Highlight artists, artwork, and community moments
  • Support promotion of exhibitions and events (including the Collingwood Art Market)

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience creating content for social media using Meta Business Suite
  • Strong interest in video content and visual storytelling
  • Basic editing skills (CapCut, InShot, or similar)
  • Good eye for composition, lighting, and capturing moments
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized
  • Collaborate with the BMFA team and be comfortable interacting with artists and the public
  • Able to manage time, meet deadlines, and maintain a consistent posting schedule
  • Familiarity with tools such as Facebook and Instagram.

Work Structure

  • Hybrid: remote work + on-site at BMFA
  • Attend the gallery 1–2 times per week to capture content
  • Attend key events (some evenings and weekends required)
  • Flexible scheduling based on programming, with a consistent posting rhythm and regular check-ins

This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and be part of a creative community.
