About the role

Eastern Health has an innovative and vibrant Social Work Department that is currently looking for a passionate and experienced Social Worker Grade 2 to join our Allied Health teams in the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department at Maroondah Hospital. This role suits an experienced Social Worker who has excellent and sound psycholosocial assessment and intervention knowledge and skills. The role is well supported by a highly effective social work team and Senior Social Worker, as well as a dynamic Allied Health Department. There is opportunity within the role to work across a variety of inpatient settings on site, as well as to engage in a variety of professional development activities on offer.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Eligibility for membership of the AASW
• Experience in a hospital setting
• Highly developed interpersonal skills
• A strong commitment to high quality care
• The ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team and also work autonomously as required
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Excellent risk assessment skills
• The ability to lead complex discharge planning
• Conflict resolution skills

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
